Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Environmental Economics

The Environmental Research Center at Duke Kunshan University is recruiting a full-time postdoctoral research fellow. The initial appointment is one year with the possibility of a one-year extension. The position can start immediately. The search will remain open until filled. 

The postdoctoral position primarily involves empirical research in the field of air pollution and climate change. Specifically, we are concerned with the health, economic, and environmental impacts of air pollution and climate change. We are also interested in evaluating the effectiveness of air pollution control and climate mitigation measures. The analysis is expected to be data driven, interdisciplinary, and policy oriented. 

The postdoctoral fellow will work with Prof Junjie Zhang. He is Director of the Environment Research Center and the international Master of Environmental Policy (iMEP) program at Duke Kunshan University, Associate Professor of Environmental Economics in the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University. Prior to the current position, he was an associate professor at the University of California, San Diego. His research centers on empirical issues in environmental and resource economics. Duke Kunshan University is a Sino-American partnership of Duke University, Wuhan University, and Kunshan City. It’s a liberal arts and research university that offers a wide range of academic programs. The teaching is in English. The iMEP degree is awarded by Duke University. Duke Kunshan is connected to Shanghai via a 15-minute high-speed train and a subway-light rail train system. 

Qualification:
A PhD or equivalent degree in economics, environmental science, statistics, public policy, agriculture, or related fields by the date of appointment. Expert in a statistical programming platform, such as R, Stata, Matlab, or Python. Ideal candidates will use GIS to work with maps and geographic information. Good communication skills. Read and write well in English.
