Assistant Professor of Contemporary French Film
The Department of Romance Studies invites applications for the position of tenure-track Assistant Professor of Contemporary French Film to offer courses on Contemporary French and Francophone French and Francophone (particularly Belgian) film, from the 90s to the present, including directors such as Jeunet, Besson, Ozon, Techine, Assayas, Honore, Guiraudie, Denis, Varda, and the Dardenne Brothers. Advanced-level courses will include critical theory with a preferred focus on gender, race, and border-studies. A desirable second specialization would be media or 20th-21st century French literature.
Requirements include PhD in hand by September 1, 2018; demonstrated excellence in research and teaching; ability to offer undergraduate courses and graduate seminars in French; native or native-like proficiency in French and English.
