The School of Physics is looking for a teaching associate to support and assist in a range of undergraduate teaching activities, including small group tutorials, workshops, laboratory and computing demonstrating. A particular focus will be on teaching associated with Foundations of Physics, first and second year undergraduate core physics modules. This position will include, but not be limited to, supervising, marking and moderating experimental and computer based laboratory exercises, tutorials and small group workshops as well as exam marking and assisting in the organisation of a student laboratory conference for second year physics undergraduates.  There may be some limited teaching duties at more advanced undergraduate levels. Opportunities to give some undergraduate lectures overseen by other academic staff may be available, although this is not the core focus of the role.
 
You should hold or be about to gain a PhD in Physics, with experience and competence in teaching and mentoring students. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be very well organised. Experience of outreach activities would be an advantage.
 
The post is funded until 31st July 2019.
