The salary will be £42,418 to £56,950 (Grade G) depending on qualifications and experience

This is a high profile opportunity for an ambitious and innovative leader who will relish the prospect of managing our services in what is a complex and unique environment. No two customers are the same: students, staff, visitors, VIPs, conference guests, wedding parties, all with varying requirements and expectations. Key agendas such as internationalisation, value for money and healthy eating are priorities to us. 

This role offers the opportunity to reshape the service, developing both the business and existing talent within the team. With commercial acumen you will use your influence and ability to build compelling business strategy and will make a significant contribution to the student experience which forms a key part of the university’s strategy; by supporting our people to make the exceptional happen through the provision of facilities and spaces to create the best educational experience for our students and work environment for our colleagues. 

Your significant experience in a commercial catering/retail environment and track record in the delivery of projects will enable you to provide inspirational and strategic leadership for the University’s catering and retail services. You will have overall responsibility for: 

  • Delivered food service
  • Functions and bars
  • Catering services within residences
  • Conference and event catering (including Reed Hall)
  • VIP event catering
  • Retail cafes
  • Shops
