Hang Seng Management College (HSMC) was restructured from the former Hang Seng School of Commerce in 2010 as a non-profit, self-financed university-level institution, with five Schools (Business, Communication, Decision Sciences, Humanities & Social Science, and Translation) and around 5,000 full-time students and 190 full-time faculty members. Dean and Professor of School of Translation [Ref: Dean (STRA) 2017-10-20]
The School of Translation currently offers a Bachelor of Translation with Business (BTB) programme and a Master of Arts in Translation (Business and Legal) programme. It aims to provide intensive and all-around training to students in translation, interpreting and professional language services, and to envision them as future translators, interpreters, editors, business executives and public relations officers of the highest quality.
The appointee should have an international academic standing in a relevant discipline, relevant academic leadership experience, and impactful contributions to the profession and the community. He/She should have a top-notch track record in both the research and actual practice of translation.
The Deanship appointment will be for an initial term of 3 years renewable. He/She will be a member of the senior management team and is expected to provide visionary leadership in effecting the academic objectives of the School covering student admission, programme developments and accreditations, teaching and learning, research developments, and external partnerships and services.
Salary will be competitive and will commensurate with qualifications and experience.
