SENIOR LECTURER IN MUSICAL THEATRE (DANCE)

£37,705 - £42,418 PER ANNUM

The Department offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate provision in Dance, Drama, Music and Performing Arts. Successful candidates will join a thriving department with 18 staff members, around 350 students (UG, PGT and PGR), wide-ranging interests and a developing research profile.  The Department can be found at the University’s Kingsway Campus with excellent facilities having seen a significant spend over a number of years to develop the site.  

The Department made its first RAE submission in 2008 and was graded 2* 70%; 3* 25% and 4* 5%. It has also submitted to the REF 2014 where 59% of staff research was graded as being of a quality that is recognised internationally in terms of originality, significance and rigour.  

In the most recent National Student Survey the Department’s disciplines were all rated above 91% with Dance rated 100% for Overall Satisfaction and Music receiving 100% for The Learning and Teaching on my Course.

We are looking for a practitioner/academic who can contribute to the undergraduate provision in Musical Theatre, Dance and Performing Arts.

The successful applicant will be a proven dance practitioner and have a track record of higher education lecturing in Dance or Musical Theatre. Experience of working professionally in Dance or Theatre is desirable and evidence of an emerging research profile, as a practice-based or scholarly researcher is essential.

It is expected that the role will include programme leadership responsibilities for the BA Musical Theatre across Chester and Shrewsbury Campuses.
