We are seeking to appoint two post-doctoral scientists to work in Professor Polly Roy’s dynamic and productive research laboratory. For more general information on the work of the laboratory, please go here: http://www.lshtm.ac.uk/aboutus/people/roy.polly.
The successful applicant will undertake research in the molecular understanding of double-stranded RNA virus replication and intracellular trafficking. The work will involve multidisciplinary techniques including reverse genetics, site-specific mutagenesis, recombinant protein expression (eukaryotic expression systems) and RNA structure analysis.
The post-holder requires in-depth knowledge of and expertise in advanced molecular biology of RNA virology and biochemistry, including experience in cutting-edge gene cloning techniques and reverse genetics systems. Applicants must have a PhD either in Virology with strong Biochemistry background or in Biochemistry with a Virology background. Applicants with experience in gene editing using CRISPR/CAS9, Flow cytometry, siRNA-induced mRNA knockdown, Confocal Immunofluorescence and Co-immunoprecipitation would be particularly advantageous. These full-time posts will be based in London and will be available until 31st August 2019 in the first instance. Salary is on the Academic Pathway Grade 6 from £38,533 to £43,759 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The posts will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Director’s Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available.
