Job Description

The Research Computing Facilitator / Administrator works closely with the Director of Research Computing in identifying, implementing, maintaining, and promoting new and existing services to maximize University researchers productivity and effectiveness in the use of research-focused computing, storage, and networking resources. This position will serve as an interface between researchers and the core services within Research Computing as well as other Information Services & Technology and Partner IT groups. By understanding the detailed interactions between the Research Computing focus areas of Systems Administration, Programming, Consulting & Training, and Service Management & Communication, the Facilitator / Administrator provides researchers with a broad view and knowledge of Research Computing services and offerings. This position will also collaborate with other regional and national research computing facilitation professionals on sharing and crafting Research Computing best practices.

Required Skills

Five to eight years experience required in the area of Research Computing. Bachelors degree required, Masters degree preferred. Strong analytical skills required with an ability to manage multiple projects and deliverables. Knowledge of numerical methods, computational methodologies, and high-performance or high throughput computing and algorithm development and optimization. Experience with computing on large scale clusters and optimizing/parallelizing codes required. Extensive communication skills specifically with the research community. Ability to work well both independently as well as in a team.
