The Independent Learning Centre's (ILC) primary mission is to support the development of students' learning skills; especially in the areas of independent learning and critical thinking. The activities of the ILC support and complement the formal curriculum of all CUHK's programmes – both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Successful candidate will support student learning through teaching, educational research, student consultations, and the development of learning materials. Demonstration of educational innovation, e-learning and leadership will also be beneficial.
The appointee will: (a) work with senior colleagues to develop materials that support the ILC activities; (b) deliver engaging workshops – both open to all students, and tailored for specific academic programmes; (c) source and develop online learning materials and resources; and (d) provide student consultations and support in language, communication and independent learning skills.
Applicants should have: (i) a Master's degree in English language teaching or a related field; (ii) at least 3-5 years full time experience in tertiary-level teaching; (iii) a commitment to and experience in enhancing independent learning; and (iv) knowledge and experience in the use of technology to support student learning.
The appointment will initially be made on a contract basis for two years commencing January 2018, which may be renewable subject to mutual agreement.
