Tenure-track or tenured rank faculty position in Applied Mathematics/Fluid Mechanics
School Harvard John A. Paulson
School of Engineering and Applied Sciences Department/Area Applied Mathematics
The Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) seeks applicants for a position at either the tenure-track or tenured rank in the area of Applied Mathematics with a focus on Fluid Mechanics, broadly interpreted, with an expected start date of July 1, 2018. This is part of a broader commitment to revitalize and expand Applied Mathematics at the university level, in terms of its teaching and research missions.
Candidates are required to have a doctorate or terminal degree by the expected start date.
Candidates should have high expertise at the interface of applied mathematics and fluid mechanics, and a demonstrated commitment to significant and innovative applications in science and engineering. In addition, we seek candidates who have the ability to develop a leading research program and enthusiasm for teaching both graduate and undergraduate courses at the interface of applied mathematics (which is among the top five undergraduate majors in the college), and engineering and applied sciences. We particularly encourage applications from historically underrepresented groups, including women and minorities.
Required application documents include a cover letter, CV, a statement of research interests, a teaching statement, and up to three representative papers. Candidates are also required to submit the names and contact information for three to five references, and the application is complete only when three letters have been submitted. We encourage candidates to apply by December 1, 2017, but will continue to review applications until the position is filled.
