We are seeking to appoint a research fellow to join the environment and health research team at LSHTM to work on a large collaborative project assessing the health effects of environmental factors in the UK. The post is part of the NIHR Health Protection Research Unit on Environmental Change and Health, and the work will have strong relevance to public health policy in the UK.

The post-holder will be required to assist in the development and programming of quantitative models of the health of the UK population. These models will be used to assess how population health may be affected under altered patterns of environmental exposure, including from outdoor air pollution, especially in the context of the transition to the low-carbon economy.

Suitable candidates are likely to have a background in a relevant science subject, mathematics, quantitative epidemiology or related discipline, and experience of computer programming. Experience in conducting quantitative research and writing peer-reviewed publications would be an advantage.  The post-holder will be supervised by Professor Paul Wilkinson at LSHTM and will be expected to work closely with project partners at UCL, Public Health England, and the University of Exeter.

The post is funded until 31 March 2019, with a possibility of extension, and will commence as soon as possible. The role is based in London.

The salary will be on the Academic scale, Grade G6 scale in the range £38,533 to £43,759 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service.  Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Director’s Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available.

Applications should be made on-line via our website http://jobs.lshtm.ac.uk, where the Further Particulars can be found. Online applications will be accepted by the automated system until 10pm of the closing date. The reference for this post is PHP-SEHR-30.
