The Role and Your Responsibilities

The School is seeking a Lecturer who will contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the Professional Communication discipline area. The Lecturer will be responsible for carrying out teaching activities within undergraduate, Masters and Graduate Diploma programs and for maintaining and advancing their scholarly, research and/or professional capabilities relevant to the discipline.

The position requires professional experience in at least one of the discipline areas of Advertising, Journalism, Media Production or Public Relations with demonstrated interest and ability to teach within the interdisciplinary framework of the Bachelor of Communication (Professional Communication). The appointee should be skilled as a teacher, knowledgeable about the interdisciplinary characteristics of the contemporary Media and Communication industries, and demonstrate an ability to work at industry standard and integrate their creative practice with teaching and research. The position requires a demonstrated commitment to research and a collaborative work ethic.

Skills & Experience Required

The ideal candidate will have knowledge and significant industry experience in crossing disciplinary boundaries to address Media and Communication issues. You will have demonstrated experience as a project leader within a collaborative framework. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a record of achievement in teaching areas related to one or more media and communication disciplinary fields and capacity to teach in Melbourne and offshore.

Candidates will have a Doctorate or PhD within a field related to Communications and will be required to undertake activities in line with the university's research strategy that emphasises relevant and applied research to advance scholarship and professional engagement.
