Assistant Professor in Oral Health
The School of Dentistry & Oral Health offers a variety of programs and courses in Dentistry, Oral Health and Dental Technology. Applications are invited for the position of Assistant Professor in Public Health at the Department of Dental Public Health, Pediatrics and Preventive Dentistry.
The appointee will be required to teach in the undergraduate Bachelor of Dental Surgery programmes, providing leadership in the development of community research projects as well as administrative matters as required. The position reports directly to the Head of Department of Dental Public Health, Pediatrics and Preventive Dentistry and is responsible for teaching community dentistry and its related teaching projects for Year 4 and 5 Dentistry students, conduct activities related to teaching such as regular review of units and programmes, administrative matters and mentoring of junior staff and students. Activities associated with tutorials, lecturing, exam paper preparation & marking are to be implemented according to policies and procedures. She/he will also be responsible to demonstrate good practice in teaching, learning and assessment through the use of a wide range of learning resources and appropriate pedagogic practices.
PHD in Dental Public Health with either a formal tertiary teaching qualification or a good relevant tertiary (normally an aggregate of four years) teaching experience. In exceptional cases, a good Master’s degree or professional qualification with a formal tertiary teaching qualification or several years of relevant tertiary teaching experience or several years of relevant industry experience may be considered The appointee will provide theoretical teaching, administrative and supervision of undergraduate students as required.
An attractive salary commensurate with qualifications and abilities will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
