JOB SCOPE

The Associate Director is an integral and highly visible member of the Stewardship and Donor Relations team. He/she will help to steward the University’s most generous donors, work closely with Development’s senior leadership, central and school-based gift officers, university faculty and students, and collaborate with Stewardship & Donor Relations colleagues to ensure the delivery of high-level, accurate, meaningful, and timely stewardship communications. The Associate Director will help implement University-wide donor recognition strategies including impact report production, naming recognition, and stewardship events.

The Associate Director will prepare personalized reports for donors and/or stewardees that convey impact of philanthropy for assigned schools and units. This includes working with development officers on any strategic delivery of reports and invitations for recipient engagement as determined by donor's stewardship/cultivation plan, including initiating contact and acting as the main liaison with recipients to obtain letters and or schedule visits with donors.

This role will also prepare and circulate fund lists to assigned schools and departments, as well as act as a resource for DAR and decentralized staff for restricted funds; problem-solve issues/concerns. Implementing University-wide comprehensive public donor recognition plans, the Associate Director will build and maintain a database of naming opportunities across the campus and manage the production of signage, as well as collaborate with other University departments and gift officers to oversee compliance to donor recognition sign standards. This position must also work with Stewardship & Donor Relations team to coordinate the logistics and implementation of a wide range of stewardship, cultivation and/or donor recognition events, including university-wide and smaller themed events, one-on-one donor/recipient meetings, dedications and/or acting as resource and liaison for school-based recognition initiatives.

Required Skills

QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must have one to three years’ experience, a bachelors’ degree is required, a master’s degree is preferred. Additionally, advanced written communications, analytical skills, collaboration, and project management skills are required. Experience in an institution of considerable organizational complexity typified by matrix relationships of power and influence is also preferred.
