Job Description

The Department of Earth & Environment at Boston University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in Earth-Surface Dynamics. Areas of specialty might include (but are not limited to) interactions among tectonics and landscape evolution; natural hazards; climate-tectonic linkages; near-surface/environmental geophysics; or crustal dynamics. Successful applicants will apply a combination of field studies, theory, and/or remote sensing techniques in their research, and contribute to the interdisciplinary natural and social science research endeavors in the Department. We particularly seek applicants whose interdisciplinary research complements existing departmental strengths in geomorphology, active tectonics, and remote sensing.

The new hire will be expected to develop a vibrant research program, teach at all levels in the Earth & Environment curriculum, and participate in the department and university community. For more information about the Department of Earth and Environment at Boston University, see
