Assistant Professor in Lighting Design, College of Fine Arts
Boston University College of Fine Arts invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track appointment in our School of Theatre. The appointment begins July 1, 2018. The successful candidate will teach lighting design in the School's BFA and MFA Design & Production programs. Specifically, the Assistant Professor will teach:
- Lighting Design 3
- Lighting Design Studio 1
- Automated Lighting Design 1
- Production 397 (Juniors)
- Lighting Design 4
- Lighting Design Studio 2
- Automated Lighting Design 2
- Production 398 (Juniors)
Additional duties include playing a collaborative role in lighting design curriculum development, student advising, student recruitment, MFA thesis advisement, designer mentoring for school productions, lighting area colloquium, service to the University, and active engagement in ongoing creative and scholarly activity that promises a strong emerging national or international reputation.
Applicants must be dynamic theatre artists with a strong record of teaching lighting at the undergraduate level. The ideal candidate will have an extensive resume of design credits in regional theatre, touring, off-Broadway, and/or Broadway productions, TV and Film. Knowledge and experience with automated lighting and media design is desired. The preferred candidate will also possess a willingness to work in a collaborative spirit among a team of faculty with varied approaches.
Qualifications should include a terminal degree (MFA) or equivalent professional experience. Salary commensurate with experience.
