The School of Music, Theatre and Dance (SMTD) has 36 tenured and tenure-track faculty as well as 40 non-tenure track faculty.
The University Center for the Arts is a nationally recognized state-of the art 350,000 square foot facility, that includes a 550-seat concert hall, a 275-seat organ and chamber music recital hall, a 320-seat thrust theatre, a 100-seat black box theatre, a 200-seat dance theatre, dedicated rehearsal, production and research spaces, along with classrooms, labs and practice rooms.
Colorado State University (CSU) is a land grant institution with a student enrollment of approximately 30,000 students in over 150 programs, and a faculty numbering 1,700. The College of Liberal Arts, within which the school is located, is the largest college in the University.

Assistant Professor of Music Education – Secondary Choral/Vocal Emphasis, tenure-track. Responsibilities: Contribute to the leadership, direction, and growth of well-established undergraduate and graduate degree programs in music education, teach secondary choral methods and voice techniques, and other related courses as needed, proactively attract and recruit undergraduate and graduate choral music education majors, cultivate relationships with CSU Alumni and secondary choral teachers across Colorado for student teaching and job placements, place and supervise students in practicum and student teaching, develop and maintain a record of peer-reviewed scholarly publications within the field of music education, maintain and develop partner relationships with the School of Education, participate in School governance, School events, and demonstrate strong leadership within the state of Colorado, Western region, and emerging leadership in choral music education within the United States.

- Doctorate in Music Education (or ABD)
- Evidence of successful secondary choral teaching experience in public schools
- State Teaching Licensure in Music
- College level teaching experience in music education
- Demonstrated record of, or the evidence of potential for peer-reviewed scholarly publications in recognized regional and/or national music education journals
- A clearly defined and articulated research agenda
- Interest in advocacy and national leadership in music education and active involvement in national and/or international music education organizations
- Demonstrates initiative as self-starter and ability to work well independently and as part of a team
- Evidence of effective written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Job Qualifications
- Three or more years secondary choral teaching experience preferred.
- Piano and conducting experience
- Experience teaching distance coursework
- Experience teaching graduate level college students
- Demonstrated ability to work and cultivate relationships with diverse populations
- Ability to engage with music education specific technologies in pedagogical settings
