Salary Level: Classification Level Broadbanded 5/6 (Salary range A$64,572 to A$80,963 gross per annum plus up to 17% employer superannuation contributions)

Overview of Marketing and External Engagement

The Office of Marketing and External Engagement develops and executes integrated strategies that result in strong enrollment growth and strengthen the University's reputation nationally and internationally. A fast-paced and deadline-driven environment, it plays a key role in helping the University achieve its strategic goals.

Overview of the Role

The Media Relations Officer (Online) assists in facilitating the flow of information between the University and the media, particularly online media, to ensure the University receives broad media coverage that reinforces its positive image. The Officer is responsible for producing compelling news stories that contain consistent key messages about the University’s activities.

Significant functions of this role include: researching and writing news stories that support the University’s goals and values; creating, collating and editing other materials, such as photographs and videos, to help promote news stories; liaising with journalists and University staff to organise media interviews; assisting in the maintenance of the University’s news pages on the corporate website; and collating and distributing daily media clips.

The Media Relations Officer (online) will work under the general direction of the Media Relations Coordinator and the Manager, Media and Messaging, however it is expected that Officers at the higher level within the broadband will have experience and expertise enabling them to perform their duties more independently.

The successful candidate will hold a relevant degree qualification and subsequent experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education.

In addition, all USC staff are expected to collaborate and contribute to the efficient and effective functioning of their work area, communicate in an inclusive and effective manner and respectfully engage with others.
