About the CUHK Business School
Established in Hong Kong in 1963, CUHK Business School (comprising two schools – Accountancy and Hotel & Tourism Management; and four departments – Finance, Decision Sciences & Managerial Economics, Management and Marketing) is the first business school to offer BBA, MBA and Executive MBA programmes in the region. About the Department of Management
The Department of Management advances the vision of the CUHK Business School, “To develop global business leaders for the Asian Century”, through transformative educational programmes, impactful research and knowledge, and our presence and touch with the community and society. The Department’s major research strengths center on the areas of international and organizational management with a special focus on the Asia-Pacific region, in particular China and Hong Kong. It comprises a team of academics with diverse ethnicity and extensive international experience who engage in a wide range of management research in entrepreneurship, human resources management, international management, organizational behavior and strategic management. The Department has a proven record of excellence in international business and general management research. In the UTD Ranking 2017, our department is ranked No. 3 worldwide based on publication counts in Journal of International Business Studies, a top international business journal, for the period of 1995-2017. Besides, the Department is a founding member of the Asia Academy of Management, an academic organization that fosters management education and research in the region. The Department currently hosts three research centers, including Center for Entrepreneurship, Center for Family Business and Center for International Business Studies. The Department of Management now invites applications for tenure-track positions at the Assistant Professor level. We welcome applications from both fresh PhD graduates and seasoned assistant professors who are engaged in high-quality scholarship in the areas of business ethics, corporate governance and social responsibility, entrepreneurship, innovation, international management, strategic HR, and strategic management.
Applicants should have an earned PhD degree in a relevant discipline. Candidates should be strongly committed to excellence in scholarly research, teaching and service. Responsibilities include publishing high-quality scholarly research, teaching management courses at undergraduate and graduate levels, and participating in academic and professional activities. The appointee is also encouraged to apply for external funding to support research endeavors. Appointment will normally be made on contract basis for up to three years initially, which, subject to performance and mutual agreement, may lead to longer-term appointment or substantiation later. Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The University offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package including housing allowance and medical insurance, and a 15% contract-end gratuity for an appointment of two years or longer. The teaching load for Assistant Professors is 3 courses per year. The medium of instruction is English.
