This is the key role within the University to ensure that we not only meet our equality and diversity obligations, but also that equality and diversity supports and enables the pursuit of excellence in all that we do.  It covers our work in relation to all the protected groups as set out at http://www.bath.ac.uk/equalities/.

This is an excellent opportunity to provide and implement solutions to complex equality and diversity challenges within the framework of relevant legislation and to ensure the provision of a high standard of advice, support and delivery across the University on all aspects of its work, including events for which a budget is available.  You need to be able to enjoy working with staff and students from all academic and professional service departments and with a Students’ Union which is very supportive and active in this area.
It includes operational coordination and management of all our work under Athena SWAN and, particularly in relation to that work, is supported by an Equality and Diversity Officer. The University has just commissioned a programme of work under its latest access audit, has a trans roadmap in place, is in receipt of HEFCE funding for work on preventing sexual harassment and has a programme of engagement in relation to BAME issues.

Ranked 5th in the UK’s universities and colleges by the Guardian University Guide 2018 and placed 12th for research excellence, the University of Bath is one of the UK’s leading universities with an international reputation for the quality of our research and teaching. Overlooking the UNESCO World Heritage City of Bath, it offers a welcoming, supportive and inspiring environment to work and to live.
