The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering has 28 faculty members, 350 undergraduates, and 250 graduate students. It has research programs in Communications and Signal Processing; Computer Engineering; Lasers, Optics, and Applications; Controls and Robotics; and Electromagnetics and Remote Sensing. The department participates in the CSU Information Science and Technology Center, the CSU-CHILL National Radar Facility, and the NSF Engineering Research Center for Collaborative Adaptive Sensing of the Atmosphere. It is home to the headquarters of the NSF Engineering Research Center for Extreme Ultraviolet Science and Technology. Many faculty in ECE hold courtesy appointments in the departments of Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, and Statistics, and collaborate with faculty in these and other departments. Annual research expenditures are nearly $10M, and the department is ranked 23rd in the country based on citations to faculty research. More information on the department can be found at www.engr.colostate.edu/ece.
Colorado State University is a land-grant institution encompassing 57 academic departments in 8 colleges, housing more than 75 majors. It is one of the fastest-growing research universities in the country, with annual research expenditures of nearly $300 million and an enrollment of over 32,000 students. Fort Collins is an attractive community of approximately 156,000 at the base of the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains, 65 miles north of Denver. The city is routinely recognized as one of the most desirable places to live in the United States. It consistently ranks high on quality of life measures by numerous publications; see http://www.fcgov.com/fcfacts.php?ID=6 for the complete list. The Front Range has developed into a high-technology hub with companies such as Agilent, HP, IBM, Intel, Keysight Technologies, Avago Technologies, AMD, Xilinx, Ball Aerospace, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, and Northrop Grumman located in or near Fort Collins. The city offers a pleasant climate with excellent schools and abundant cultural and recreational opportunities nearby. More information on Fort Collins is available at www.visitftcollins.com.
