The Infrastructure Services and Operations function focuses on the delivery of day to day support and service to staff and students. The team works collaboratively across the IT function, partnering with other teams in the provision of a high quality, responsive and seamless service, and works to continuously improve services.
About the job
Reporting to the Networks and Telephony Manager, we are seeking a Networks Engineer in the Information Technology department. You will have responsibility for installation, configuration and management the University's network infrastructure. You will also be required to analyse and diagnose complex network problems and ensure the integrity and the performance of the network infrastructure is maintained.
The ideal candidate will possess strong experience in routing & switching, collaboration technologies, security, wireless, cloud services, and load balancers.
You will have opportunity to work with emerging technologies and assist in the planning and design of the University's network infrastructure.
The position performs an important technical role within the Information Technology Infrastructure Group and is expected to provide strong technical skills and a commitment to customer service.

To be successful in the role, you will have:
- A degree level qualification in information technology, information systems, or equivalent
- Strong experience in collaboration technologies
- Experience in automation tools and framework
- Related industry certification (CCNP, CCIE), and/or equivalent experience
- Substantial experience in the design and management of large multi-site computer networks.
- Substantial experience with the installation, configuration and ongoing maintenance and upgrading of Cisco network routers, switches, and other network hardware.
