A Research Associate is sought to work on two reproductive health projects, the Post-partum IUD (PPIUD) Project and the Willows Evaluation Research Project, in the Department of Global Health and Population at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. The position will begin on November 1, and last for one year with the potential for renewal.
The successful candidate will split his/her time between the two projects and contribute to research evaluating an intervention offering PPIUD services in Tanzania, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, and the implementation and impact of the Willows Reproductive Health Programs in intervention and control sites in Ghana, Pakistan, Tanzania and Turkey. The work will involve designing data collection instruments, monitoring data collection and quality in the field; and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data.
Working under the guidance of Principal Research Scientist Iqbal Shah and Professor David Canning, the Associate will be expected to participate actively in implementing the two projects, research, writing, and the dissemination of results.
Candidates should hold a doctoral degree in a relevant field, such as global health, demography, economics, sociology, or epidemiology. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated excellence in research in program evaluation.
Applicants should have a record of publications showing their potential for scholarship and will usually have completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship or equivalent experience.
Experience of primary data collection, particularly in the project countries, and familiarity with reproductive health and family planning programs is desirable. Expertise in either qualitative or quantitative research methods or, preferably, in both is required.
