Weatherhead Research Cluster on Global Populism Fellowship
Faculty of Arts and Sciences
Weatherhead Center for International Affairs
Position Description

The Weatherhead Research Cluster on Global Populism at Harvard University seeks to foster research on populism from diverse disciplinary perspectives. Bringing together faculty, graduate students, and fellows, the Cluster examines both the determinants of the rise of populist movements and its consequences.

The Global Populism Fellow is appointed for one academic year and is provided time, guidance, office space, and access to Harvard University facilities. The Fellow should be prepared to devote his/her entire time to productive scholarship on topics closely related to the Cluster’s core research themes. The Fellow may be asked to assist in organizing workshops or conferences for the Research Cluster.

More information on the program, including events and affiliated faculty can be found at https://populism.wcfia.harvard.edu/.

Basic Qualifications

The competition for these awards is open only to scholars with a PhD (or comparable professional school degree). If still enrolled in a PhD program at the time of application, Fellows must receive their degree no later than June 2018. While preference will be given to scholars in earlier stages of their careers, all qualified candidates will be considered, regardless of year of degree. The fellowship is residential and Fellows are required to live in the Cambridge/Boston area for the duration of their appointments unless traveling for research purposes for short periods of time.

Additional Qualifications

We expect that candidates will be able to submit samples of independent work (articles, papers, dissertation chapters) in support of their candidacies on request. Candidates are expected to participate in activities of the Research Cluster on Global Populism.
