The Department of Mechanical Engineering (ME) at Colorado State University offers a curriculum that integrates exceptional classroom learning and in-depth engineering practice for an unparalleled educational experience. Made up of 38 faculty members, 8 staff members, 1200 undergraduate students, and 150 graduate students, mechanical engineering is one of the largest departments on CSU’s campus. State-of-the-art labs provide unmatched, hands-on experience to help undergraduate students conceptualize industry environments; and, $7.5M in annual research funding, provides groundbreaking opportunities focusing on health, materials, and energy, for graduate students to enhance their educational concentrations. Position Summary

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Colorado State University invites applications for one tenure/tenure-track faculty position at the level of assistant professor or associate professor. Candidates with research and teaching expertise in advanced materials and materials manufacturing and related mechanical engineering areas are sought to synergistically strengthen current departmental research and teaching activities. Specific areas of interest include:

  • Multifunctional Materials
  • Advanced Materials Characterization
  • High Temperature Structural Materials
  • Soft Materials
  • Micro and Nanofabrication

This faculty position is a full-time nine-month appointment starting Fall 2018. Successful candidates will be expected to build and maintain a strong, internationally recognized research program supported through external funding, to enhance the Department’s educational programs, and to provide service to the University and broader community. Successful candidates will be expected to teach courses in our mechanical engineering curriculum at the undergraduate, M.S. and Ph.D. levels, advise undergraduate and graduate students, and develop advanced courses in his or her areas of expertise. Required Job Qualifications

  • A Ph.D. or equivalent in mechanical engineering or a closely related field is required
  • Candidates must exhibit ability and enthusiasm to teach courses in the Department’s undergraduate and graduate curriculum.

Preferred Job Qualifications

Candidates should demonstrate great promise for extraordinary scholarship, and preferably have post-doctoral experience in an academic, government, or industrial setting, and demonstrate a personal and professional commitment to diversity.
