The Role

The Technical Officer is part of a team responsible for the efficient operation of specialist communication and digital broadcast technologies and equipment. Key to this role is the provision of equipment loans and the provision of specialist technical expertise, assistance and support to staff and students.

The Technical Services team operate: on-air radio; edit suites; media servers; digital multi-track recording and surround sound; state of the art multi-camera television studios; green-screen; and sophisticated classroom audio-visual equipment and surround sound systems.

There are a number of equipment loan stores and technical workshops across multiple locations supporting Higher Education, Vocational Education, Research and Enterprise activities, servicing multiple disciplines and program areas, all with complex technical requirements. There is an extensive fleet of high-end portable broadcast, production and professional equipment available for loan.

Skills & Experience Required

To be successful in this role, you will have experience with digital broadcast AV and related equipment repair and installation in a time-critical environment; demonstrated experience in the delivery of service in a high volume, high turnover customer-centric environment; and current knowledge and appreciation of broadcast AV production and post-production technologies and workflow, including digital techniques. In addition, you will have proven customer service experience; high level interpersonal and communication skills; demonstrated knowledge and application of OHS legislation and regulations in a technical environment; and demonstrated ability to work co-operatively as a member of a service delivery team.

Essential

A relevant diploma or equivalent education and/or experience.

Experience with media server technologies in a networked environment will be highly regarded.
