Head of Plymouth Business School
University of Plymouth
Salary: Competitive

The University of Plymouth was ranked as one of the top 50 universities for research in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (Research Fortnight Power list). Its mission – advancing knowledge, transforming lives – is manifest in the compelling combination of first-class, innovative teaching, clusters of world-class research, and a commitment to widening participation and social inclusion, so that students are supported and encouraged to unlock their true potential.

Sitting within the Faculty of Business, led by the Faculty’s Executive Dean Professor Nikolaos Tzokas, the Plymouth Business School has recently restructured into four departments that offer a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses:

  • Accounting, Finance & Economics;
  • International Logistics, Operations & Shipping;
  • People, Marketing & Entrepreneurship;
  • Tourism & Hospitality.

Viewing the business world through a thoroughly modern lens, the School is also home to both the Futures Entrepreneurship Centre, which embeds entrepreneurship across the curriculum and offers support to business start-ups, and the Hartsook Centre for Sustainable Philanthropy which focuses on research and training in philanthropy and fundraising.

We wish to appoint an exceptional academic leader to develop and deliver strategic plans in line with the University’s overarching vision and ambitions. With significant strategic leadership experience, an excellent international research reputation, and a strong track record of both attracting research funding and delivering high-quality research outputs, the Head of School will also ensure the highest standards of teaching, learning, research, knowledge transfer, and scholarship.

The University has engaged the services of Berwick Partners (an Odgers Berndtson company), to whom applications should be sent.

In order to apply, please submit a comprehensive curriculum vitae along with a covering letter setting out your interest in the role and details of how you match the required criteria. Please include the names and addresses of three referees. Referees will not be approached until the final stages and not without prior permission from candidates.

Please note that applications will be accepted on the Berwick Partners' website until Monday 30th October.
