The School of Social Sciences is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in the area of Sociology and Social Policy.

This position will contribute to the School's undergraduate and graduate teaching, postgraduate thesis supervision and administration requirements. Our programme offers majors in Sociology and Social Policy and interdisciplinary minors in Gender Studies and Work, Employment and Society.

Applications are sought from scholars who can teach in either introductory sociology or social policy, and at least two of the following areas of sociology or social policy: research methods, health, family, crime and deviance, gender and sexualities and social inequalities. Responsibilities of the successful applicant will include establishing and maintaining a productive research programme, teaching undergraduate and postgraduate papers related to sociology and social policy, supervising postgraduate student research, and contributing to the administration of the degree programme.

Applicants must have a PhD in sociology or social policy, experience in undergraduate teaching and graduate supervision, and a record of research publications in keeping with the position of either Lecturer or Senior Lecturer.

Current salary range for Lecturers is NZ$72,654 to $87,500 per year and for Senior Lecturers NZ$90,000 to $118,500 per year, depending on qualifications, skills and experience.
