Associate Professor/Professor in Sociology and Social Policy

The School of Social Sciences is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified Associate Professor or Professor in the area of Sociology and Social Policy.
This position will contribute to the School's undergraduate and graduate teaching, postgraduate thesis supervision and administration requirements. Our programme offers majors in Sociology and Social Policy and interdisciplinary minors in Gender Studies and Work, Employment and Society.
Applications are sought from scholars who can teach in either introductory sociology or social policy and at least two of the following areas of sociology or social policy: research methods, health, family, crime and deviance, gender and sexualities and social inequalities. The responsibilities include advancing research capacity and contributing to pedagogical and educational developments.
Applicants must have a PhD in Sociology or Social Policy. A research and scholarship record of sustained excellence at a national and international level, demonstrated excellence in teaching and successful postgraduate supervision experience are essential. In addition, you will have proven ability to provide academic leadership and mentoring, succeed in attracting and supervising high quality post graduate research students, succeed in obtaining external research funding and engage effectively with colleagues, students and external stakeholders.
Current salary range for Associate Professors is NZ$120,000 to $132,500 per year and for Professors a minimum of NZ$135,000 per year, depending on qualifications, skills and experience.
