Role and Responsibilities
The School of Design is a new school comprising the disciplines of Industrial Design, Digital Design and Communication Design. The school will build on RMIT's leading national and international reputation in design education by creating a specific focus on emerging areas such as UX and service design, design strategy and virtual and augmented reality.
Reporting to the Pro-Vice Chancellor for Design and Social Context and Vice President, the Dean is responsible for the leadership and management of the School of Design. As a member of the University executive team, the Dean of School will provide leadership across teaching and learning, research, professional, industry and community engagement, and will contribute to the strategic direction setting of the College and University. The Dean of School will have particular responsibility for integrating activities across organisational boundaries and disciplines to meet the needs of students and industry.

With significant professional standing and a history of research in a relevant area, you will be committed to developing the next generation of students, programs and staff. With a collegial leadership style and decisive clear-thinking you will be able to create a culture that embraces change and innovation and your interpersonal skills will enable you to build strong relationships internally and externally.
Your international reputation for research in a relevant business area is complimented with a PhD qualification.
