Australian Institute of Health Innovation (AIHI) is an internationally leading health services research facility. AIHI is located within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and brings together three well-known, leading and highly successful Macquarie University research centres that work in the separate but related areas of clinical governance, implementation science, health informatics, health services and health systems and safety.

The Centre for Health Systems and Safety Research, one of the core research centres within AIHI has a multi-stream program of research which focuses on investigating health services and patient outcomes and safety. The Centre has particular expertise in evaluating the use of information technologies and electronic health records in supporting improved health care delivery and health outcomes. The Centre’s research team is very multi-disciplinary and applies a broad range of multi-method research techniques, from RCT designs to direct observational studies of clinical work.
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Research Fellow to manage a new research project which will investigate the effectiveness of an organisational interventional program in hospitals to reduce unprofessional and bullying behaviours among staff. The successful candidate will be required to provide project co-ordination of a range of research activities across multiple hospital sites in different states. They will participate in refining the design of studies, data collection tools and data analysis strategies. The research fellow will take an active role in supporting steering group meetings and the preparation of presentations and publications.
This position is based at Macquarie University but may require work at study sites across Australia from time to time.

- PhD (in a relevant field)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with experience liaising with healthcare staff and patients, and effective teamwork skills
- Demonstrable project management skills, and skills in the design and execution of health care evaluation/intervention studies
- Experience in the preparation of ethics applications, and in post-approval protocol management and reporting requirements
- Experience in the preparation of grant applications
- Good understanding of the Australian acute care hospital sector
- Good research track record with peer-reviewed publications and presentations
- Experience with successful research student supervision
Note: This position requires a valid Working with Children Check Clearance for NSW and a criminal record check. Qualification checks are also required.
Research Fellow (Level B) base salary $99,879 - $118,174 plus 17% employer's superannuation and annual leave loading. Pro-rata rates apply for part-time appointments.
Appointment type: Full-time or part-time fixed-term position, for 2 years.
