Assistant Professor for Paediatrics
The primary role of the incumbent is to teach, research/publish, consult, and provide general administration support to teaching within the section. The staff appointed conducts seminars, workshops and visits to appropriate organizations to enhance the delivery of the program. The role of the Associate/ Assistant Professor will involve planning and teaching programs of study, assist in program curriculum development, assessing student progress and provide advice and guidance to students, acting as a mentor where necessary to department staff members. Other duties may include assisting with the enrollment of students and the preparation of their personal study programs amongst others.
A Clinical Master’s Degree in Pediatrics OR equivalent qualification from a recognized institution. The applicant should be registered as a specialist or eligible for registration as a specialist with the Fiji Medical Council and must be able to carry out clinical work required at a Consultant Pediatrician level at the Ministry of Health Tertiary hospital in Fiji.
He /She should have demonstrated some research and publication outcomes and curriculum development in the relevant field.
A Tertiary clinical teaching experience in a recognized formal undergraduate and /or postgraduate pediatric program at a Medical training institution would be an advantage. Industrial/professional experiences or professional training experiences are necessary.
The applicant must have experience of working as a specialist (post specialist registration) in the relevant field. Letter of conformation of good standing from the applicants Medical Council is necessary.
An Assistant Professor shall have demonstrated the ability to make significant contribution to the discipline through research and /or scholarship. In research and /or scholarship and /or teaching, they shall demonstrate the ability to make original contributions which expand knowledge and practice in their disciplines.
An attractive salary commensurate with qualifications and abilities will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
