Research Associate in Imaging
About the job
You will contribute to grant-funded research under the broad direction of the Group Leader: Tumour Microenvironment Laboratory, to achieve defined objectives and test stated hypotheses using a wide range of techniques, but with a focus on imaging approaches. You will specifically contribute to projects focused on delineating the molecular mechanisms underlying the remodelling of the tumour microenvironment by cancers, and the resulting enhancement of tumour progression. You will also provide administrative and maintenance support to the Centre for Cancer Biology (CCB) Advanced Imaging Resource, part of the ACRF Cancer Discovery Accelerator, along with training to members of the CCB who wish to use advanced imaging approaches in their research.
Skills and Experience
You will have a postgraduate qualification (PhD desirable) in cancer biology, immunology, cell biology, biochemistry or a related discipline, together with demonstrated experience with the use of animal models in fundamental research, and demonstrated experience with confocal microscopy.
Centre for Cancer Biology
The Centre for Cancer Biology is an alliance between SA Pathology and the University of South Australia and boasts the largest concentration of cancer research in South Australia, currently hosting 22 full-time research group leaders and their teams. The Centre is a Medical Research Institute which carries out a world-class program of innovative research, making breakthrough discoveries in the fundamental causes of cancer, and translating these discoveries into new ways to prevent and treat this group of diseases.
