We are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow to work in the laboratory of Professor Brendan Wren undertaking molecular biology, microbiology and glycoengineering research at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine’s headquarters in London.

The successful applicant will be involved in the following research: cloning and genetic engineering in bacteria, protein expression and purification, bacterial polysaccharide structures and mass spectrometry analysis. They will be expected to contribute to publications (including as lead author) and contribute to research degree student supervision. 
The post-holder will have a PhD in microbiology/genetics, experience in molecular biology and/or glycobiology, ability to work as part of a research team, a proven ability to communicate complex issues orally in English to a wide range of audiences, a proven ability to prioritise competing work priorities and to meet deadlines, ability to co-ordinate a multidisciplinary team across countries and levels of seniority, meticulous attention to detail, excellent writing abilities and presentation skills, ability to work both independently and as a member of a team. The post is funded by the Medical Research Council until 30th September 2020. Salary is on the Academic Pathway Grade 6 from £38,533 to £43,759 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Director’s Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available.
