About the role

This is a key position that will provide leadership and strategic direction in the delivery of key University strategic imperatives. The Pro Vice-Chancellor Learning Quality and Innovation (PVC Learning Quality and Innovation) is a new leadership position reporting to the DVC (Academic) and plays a central role across the University to give effect to the Strategic Goal of delivering an outstanding student experience that is characterised by high quality learning and teaching, contemporary approaches to curriculum design and delivery, and positive career outcomes for students.

The PVC Learning Quality and Innovation will be responsible for leading the university’s commitment to deliver an outstanding student learning experience through an evidence-based approach to academic quality and standards, academic staff capability building, and curriculum innovation.

The PVC will lead the La Trobe Learning and Teaching Centre and will work collaboratively and strategically with key stakeholders within the University’s academic Colleges and across central portfolios to enhance the quality of learning and teaching and curriculum design.

Key priorities for this position will include;

  • Leading La Trobe Learning and Teaching
  • Embeding the La Trobe Digital Learning Strategy and shaping La Trobe’s online learning strategy
  • Monitoring and benchmarking performance in learning and teaching through rigorous, evidence-based means

Skills & Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have a distinguished scholarly record in the field of higher education learning and teaching. You will also demonstrate experience in managing a large and strategically important business unit, including professional maturity, political acumen, tenacity and resilience, and demonstrate a track record of successfully leading innovative, university-wide approaches to the design, delivery and evaluation of academic program offerings. Well developed communication skills – both verbal and written – will be critical in effectively performing this role.
