The Australian Centre for Cyber Security (ACCS) is a focal point for the research of some 60 scholars from various faculties across UNSW who conduct research on different aspects of cyber security. The ACCS also serves as a national hub for policy-related research and education across the full spectrum of cyber security (hardware, software, payload, networks, policy, human factors, organizational factors and the information ecosystem). The Centre builds on close working relationships with both domestic and international industry and government, including UNSW’s unique half-century relationship with Defence.
Over the next 5 years the main focus of the Director of ACCS will be to build on the Centre’s capacity for research, teaching and higher degree research supervision in the discipline and refocus its position in these areas as a leader in cyber security operations.
The Director of the Australian Centre for Cyber Security will be an established leader in Cyber Security, with the experience and interpersonal skills to provide international thought leadership in Cyber Security and an outstanding record of achievement in at least one relevant discipline related to the technical, social or political aspects of Cyber Security. They will be required to contribute significantly to a strategic vision for the ACCS Research and Education and to develop strong linkages with researchers from within the Schools of Engineering and Information Technology, Humanities and Social Sciences, Physical Environmental and Mathematical Sciences and Business at UNSW Canberra and other schools within UNSW and with the broader scholarly and practitioner communities. The Director will also have the ability to set the technical direction for the ACCS.
The Director reports to the Head of the School of Engineering and Information Technology and will be responsible for supervising all academic staff employed by the ACCS.
