The Education Portfolio is headed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Education and Vice President who leads the planning and implementation of the University's strategies related to RMIT's academic programs and the RMIT student experience. The Portfolio is responsible for services to support the quality of RMIT programs, including the professional development of academic staff, continuous improvement of the student experience, learning and teaching outcomes and the management of learning and research information sources.The Education Portfolio plays a key role in empowering students to access education, participate actively in the life of the University and achieve successful and fulfilling lives beyond graduation. The provision of a stimulating and satisfying experience for students is a priority for the University.

The Role and Your Responsibilities

The delivery of professional, proactive careers counselling and career development services to support a diverse student population and RMIT's strategic direction. Services are delivered face to face, in group settings with a strong focus on careers education in the online environment. The position involves close collaboration within a cross disciplinary team and consultation with key stakeholders, particularly academic colleges and program areas.

Skills & Experience Required

You will provide individual careers counselling and career assessments to students and graduates with complex needs within a dual sector institution (TAFE & Higher Education). You will demonstrate knowledge of the labour market and the TAFE & Higher Education sector and the issues that will impact upon the delivery and development of careers education and employment services to students and graduates. Key to this role will be your ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to develop, plan, organise, co-ordinate and deliver innovative careers events, workshops and programs to support student and graduate career development needs in both the face to face and online environments. Highly developed and confident communication skills will see you liaise with employers, as appropriate, to build links with the RMIT community that support student career learning outcomes and enhance graduate opportunities.
