Queen’s University Belfast is one of the leading universities in the UK, combining excellence in research and education with a student-centred ethos. As part of its Vision 2020 the University is seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to the role of Head of the School of Law. This individual will play a key role in delivering the 2020 strategy, whilst supporting the Pro Vice-Chancellor of the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (AHSS), Professor Adrienne Scullion.

The appointment forms part of a new five School structure which will support the growth of high quality teaching programmes, research themes, and knowledge transfer initiatives that will cross School boundaries. This role will be supported by a School Manager and administrative team as well as four academic Directors who will focus on moving forward the School’s ambitious research, undergraduate and postgraduate education and international agendas to increase the profile of the University.

The new Head of School will lead and maintain an environment of excellence, enabling education and research to flourish. They will be highly collaborative in style and facilitate the development of all staff, whilst promoting an ambitious mind-set across the School. Potential candidates will have a strong background in research and a track record of success in leading and delivering strategic objectives. The successful appointee will be an advocate for both the University and higher education, with a proven ability to build productive relationships locally, nationally and internationally.
