IRU lobbies the Australian Government for its member universities and enhances member universities through sharing policy and practice and creating opportunities for collaborative initiatives.

The IRU secretariat is seven people, primarily based in Melbourne with offices in Canberra, Gold Coast and Darwin.  La Trobe university employs secretariat staff on behalf of the IRU.

About the role

In this role you will provide high level administrative support for the Innovative Research Universities (IRU) secretariat to ensure it operates effectively.  The role covers meetings and events scheduling and set up, travel coordination, finance processing and monitoring, and executive assistant support for the IRU Executive Director.  You will solve operational problems, identifying additional service requirements or service shortfalls and coordinate the delivery of solutions.      

Skills & Experience

To be considered for this role you will have completed a Degree qualification or an equivalent combination of knowledge, training and experience. You will be capable of using corporate financial and administrative systems, able to provide high level administrative support, and achieve outcomes through working effectively as part of a team. Strong computer, communication and interpersonal skills are essential.  You will also have experience with event management.
