Our Organisation

RMIT is a global university of technology, design and enterprise. Our mission is to help shape the world through research, innovation, teaching and engagement, and to create transformative experiences for our students, getting them ready for life and work.

The Engagement and Vocational Education (E&VE) Portfolio leads and coordinates the University's industry engagement, marketing, student recruitment and vocational education activities, providing services to internal and external clients and stakeholders.

The Role & Your Responsibilities

The Employment Consultant develops relationships with employers in order to seek employment opportunities for graduating RMIT VE students. The role will predominantly find apprenticeships for our pre-apprenticeship programs and out of work apprentices but will also source employment opportunities for the broader VE programs. In this role, you will meet with students to provide one on one employment advice and reverse market students to employers. You will also need to help students with the job application process. You will be required to go into the classrooms and give presentations on employability skills, the future labour market and job readiness i.e. resumes and cover letters.

Skills & Experience Required

As the successful candidate, you will be confident in your communication and networking skills to develop and support relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including local employers, industry and professional networks, AASN's, community organisations and RMIT students and staff. You will also have demonstrated the ability to identify, develop, and implement a range of innovative face-to-face and online employment services, events, resources and opportunities that are targeted and responsive to stakeholders needs. Your capacity to think and work innovatively, effectively and flexibly in a small team environment will be imperative to your success in this role.

Ex-Tradie in Plumbing, Construction or Electrical with business development experience is highly desirable.

Experience in Recruitment, Trades, Employment Services, Youth Work or AASN will be well regarded.
