Job Description

Boston Universitys Post Award Financial Operations function (PAFO), part of Boston Universitys Financial Affairs organization, is responsible for a broad range of research related compliance and financial management functions, including tracking, projecting and budgeting research spending and related cost recoveries, the development and negotiation of the Universitys indirect cost, fringe benefit, and service center rates, property management, coordination of the Universitys annual federal Uniform guidance audit, the creation and implementation of research-related financial and post award compliance policies and business processes, compliance monitoring in key risk areas, oversight of research related systems, and research administration training. Reporting to PAFOs Assistant Vice President, the Senior Analyst will provide analytical support across PAFOs departments, performing complex data analysis using the Universitys financial reporting and research administration systems in conjunction with Excel and other analytical tools. Key goals for this position include the development of dashboards that illustrate trends in research spending, providing analysis to support projections and identify areas of risk and opportunity, and creating models to support strategic decision making. Experience and skill in complex analysis and the use of analytical tools is vital in this role, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills. Will have visibility to senior management.

Required Skills

Requires B.A./B.S., strong analytical, organizational and communication skills and 7+ years of related experience. The Senior Analyst operates under general supervision, therefore excellent organizational and time management skills, attention to detail, ability to multi-task, excellent verbal and written communication skills are paramount. This individual must be a self-starter, diplomatic, pro-active, and able to adapt an advanced knowledge of skills, methods, practices, policies and/or procedures and a moderate degree of innovation, analysis and reasoning to complete work that is somewhat project oriented and involves some complex problems and/or decisions.
