The Australian Institute of Health Innovation (AIHI) is an internationally leading health services research facility and brings together three well-known, leading and highly successful Macquarie University research centres that work in the separate but related areas of complexity science, implementation science, health informatics, health services and health systems and safety.

Within AIHI, The Centre for Healthcare Resilience and Implementation Science (CHRIS) has a successful track record of undertaking research and evaluation projects on health sector issues since 1991. Its core interest is to investigate issues of policy, governance and leadership in the health sector. It is involved in conducting original research into clinical governance issues, providing a scholarly capability by which to evaluate health sector policies, programs and projects, and contributing to undergraduate medical, postgraduate health services management, and public health and doctoral education.

The Role:

The Centre for Healthcare Resilience and Implementation Science (CHRIS) is seeking to appoint an exceptional Senior Research Fellow or Research Fellow with a strong and growing track record as a researcher and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will conduct collaborative research and coordinate studies across a complex mix of projects, working with multi-disciplinary teams to encourage more evidence-based practice, conducting interventional and multi-method research designs. The large-scale project is funded by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) and work will be carried out across Sydney and Adelaide.

Selection Criteria for Senior Research Fellow - Level C applicants:

Essential:

  • A PhD in a relevant discipline
  • Exceptional ability to coordinate the research activities of the research team.
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders across healthcare including policy makers, hospital executives, clinicians, etc.
  • Demonstrated track record of publishing in high quality journals and citations
  • Demonstrated track record in securing research grants
  • Leadership skills and extensive experience in successful research supervision
  • Demonstrated experience by which to make a useful contribution to the academic life and administrative tasks of the Centre and Institute with a track record of effective team work and leadership
  • Experience and interest in interdisciplinary and multi-method research
  • Demonstrated ability to present papers at conferences and workshops
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis
  • Ability to take the lead on final reports including journal articles and technical reports

Desirable:

  • High-level leadership experience on large-scale projects

Selection Criteria for Research Fellow - Level B applicants:

Essential:

  • A PhD in a relevant discipline
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to work with a range of stakeholders across healthcare including policy makers, hospital executives, clinicians, etc.
  • Demonstrated track record of contributing to peer reviewed publications in high quality journals
  • Evidence of capacity to secure future research grants.
  • Experience with successful research student supervision
  • Interest in and evidence of capacity for interdisciplinary and multi-method research
  • Demonstrated experience in making a contribution to the academic life and administrative tasks of the Centre with a track record of effective team work
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis
  • Evidence of providing expertise in the drafting of final reports including journal articles and technical reports
  • Evidence of capacity to present papers at conferences and workshops

Note: This position requires a criminal record check

Salary Package: Senior Research Fellow (Level C) base salary $121,953-$140,246 p.a., or, Research Fellow (Level B) base salary $99,879-$118,174 p.a., plus 17% employer's superannuation and annual leave loading.

Appointment type: Full-time position for three years.
