Law-related courses in Hobart date back to 1983 and generations of dedicated staff have ensured that, over one hundred years later, the School contributes strongly to the legal profession locally and has built an enviable reputation for academic achievement and excellence in legal teaching and in research nationally.
The head of school provides strategic leadership and direction for all aspects of the School's research and research training, research-led teaching and learning, professional activities and community engagement. S/he will enhance the School's visibility and interdisciplinary connections, contribute to curriculum renewal that attracts new cohorts of students and provide leadership to the legal profession in Tasmania.
The appointee will bring to the School high level academic credibility, strong and visionary leadership, team leadership skills and business acumen.
The position is based in Hobart. The head of school position is offered for a fixed term of five years, renewable by agreement. An on-going professorial role will be negotiated.
