Professor/Discipline Head in Mechanical Engineering
Griffith School of Engineering is seeking an accomplished academic leader in Mechanical Engineering to play a lead role in the development of teaching and research within the Mechanical Engineering discipline. This discipline forms one of five majors in the Bachelor of Engineering, the existing being Civil, Electrical and Electronic, Mechatronic, and Sport and Biomedical.
This is a full time, fixed term appointment for three years as Head of Discipline, with a substantive continuing (tentured) position as Professor, Level E. This position will be based at the Gold Coast campus.
Reporting to the Head of School, you will provide scholarly leadership by fostering excellence in research and teaching within the Mechanical Engineering discipline. You will predominantly focus on the development of the discipline by building an international reputation in research and achieving excellence in learning and teaching and curriculum development. In addition, you will lead professional engagement with industry and the wider community.
To be successful in this role you will have a relevant PhD with significant experience in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and demonstrated international standing through high quality research as evidenced by sustained publications in leading international journals and successful grant applications. You will be a visionary leader with an enthusiastic approach and outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
The successful candidate may well have a role in leadership in research within the ADaM Research Institute and its forerunner 3D printing and design facility. Research interests in materials engineering, advanced manufacture and design, or mechanics of materials/FEA would be highly valued.
A salary package that includes a base salary of $172,326 per annum with an employer superannuation contribution of 17% of base salary will be offered. Attractive salary packaging arrangements are also available.
