Associate Professor of Music & Director of Choral Activities

Boston University's College of Fine Arts - School of Music seeks an experienced and innovative musical leader with a proven national and international record of achievement as a choral conductor and as a teacher of choral conductors. The successful candidate will bring an understanding of and dedication to the role of highly trained conductors and vocalists in the 21st century, as well as a commitment to the benefits of choral singing through engagement of non-music majors across a university campus. This is a non-tenure track position.
The successful candidate will conduct the School of Music choral ensembles in rehearsal and performances both on and off campus; supervise professional graduate degree programs in choral conducting; teach, mentor and advise graduate conducting majors; provide artistic and administrative leadership for the choral program; select repertoire serving pedagogical and professional needs of both conductors and vocalists; collaborate on performance projects with instrumental and opera programs; develop curricula as the profession demands; recruit for conducting and applied voice programs; serve on the faculty of a comprehensive school of music at a major research institution; and maintain and continue to develop a national and international reputation as a choral conductor and pedagogue. The successful candidate will show evidence of significant artistic, administrative, interpersonal and communication skills.
Anticipated date of appointment: July 1, 2018
Terminal degree or demonstrated professional equivalent required; previous teaching at the college level required.

Selected candidates will be asked to provide a video recording of 30 minutes of rehearsal and 20-30 minutes of performance, including repertoire in contrasting styles, and showing expertise with a cappella works as well as works with instruments.
