The University is seeking an energetic, dynamic, forward-thinking professional for the position of Associate Librarian of the Library.
Duties : Reporting to and working closely with the University Librarian, the appointee will serve as the key member of the Library Management Group in the development and implementation of the Library policies, priorities and strategic plans. S/he will be responsible for the administration, staff development, service promotion and building infrastructure development of the Library; lead or participate substantially in cross-sectional projects and working groups within the Library for enhancing Library services and operations; provide strategic leadership and advice in the development of innovative service models and programs for fostering user experience; and collaborate with stakeholders within and outside the University to fully integrate the Library into the University’s strategic planning efforts. The appointee is expected to represent the Library at all levels.
Requirements : A good honours degree plus a recognized post-graduate professional qualification in Librarianship or Information Science (MLS or equivalent), with a broad understanding of strategic directions of academic libraries and a proven record of strength in at least several operational areas (such as public services, faculty liaison, collection development, research services, technology, digital services, service promotion and space planning). Candidates should demonstrate significant achievements and leadership in activities (such as planning, initiation and management of long-term projects, consortium collaboration, staff development and assessment, and library research), and have a proven record of professional participation and knowledge of current issues in university library management. Excellent analytical, communication (written and spoken) and interpersonal skills; and ability to work effectively with colleagues, students, faculty and staff in a rapidly changing, complex, diverse and multicultural environment are also required. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.
Salary and Conditions of Service
Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes, and housing benefits.
