Trinity College London
Group Director Quality & Standards

The international exam board, Trinity College London has been providing assessments since 1877. With a rich heritage of academic rigour and a positive, supportive approach to assessment, Trinity provides recognised and respected qualifications in a unique spectrum of communicative skills – from music, drama and arts activities to English Language – at all levels.

As the UK’s thirteenth largest awarding body, Trinity employs some 275 people and delivers over 700,000 assessments each year worldwide. It has a turnover of circa £52m and returns consistent annual surpluses before donations granted, which in recent years have been around £1.5million.

Under the present Chief Executive, Trinity’s global network is expanding; the organisation’s educational role continues to broaden and deepen on an international scale. Significant investment has been made into infrastructure and the senior management team in order to consolidate existing operations and create capacity for expansion. As a result, the groundwork has been firmly laid for new collaborations, higher stakes assessments, examinations and refreshed syllabuses.

The Group Director for Quality & Standards will be at the forefront of ensuring efficient and effective delivery of regulatory quality and compliance services across the entire international Trinity organisation. As a key pillar of the senior management team, the successful candidate will be responsible for planning and managing the smooth running of business processes; most notably processes that support significant events in the academic compliance and regulatory cycle across international markets. The job holder will develop and implement a strategy for continuous improvement in the validity and reliability of Trinity’s qualifications, through data analysis and clear reporting. The role will work across Trinity’s matrix to ensure compliance with the requirements of Trinity’s regulators, including Ofqual, QW, CEEA and ALTE and will provide advice on compliance issues to the wider Trinity network and will be the main point of contact for our regulators.

This is a senior role within a newly restructured leadership team. Reporting to the Chief Executive the successful candidate will provide dynamic and insightful leadership across a critical and complex environment, including all of Trinity’s functional areas. Candidates should be excellent communicators and bring experience of leading change and driving up standards. They will have a working knowledge of awarding, as well as the experience needed to formulate clear advice on policy issues in this sector. An in depth understanding of the UK education sector will be crucial, alongside experience of managing complex, external stakeholder relationships.
