Academic Director

Neapolis University Pafos (NUP), Cyprus is a private English-language academic institution of higher learning providing academics and researchers with an engaging environment within which to work and grow professionally.

The university is located in the town of Pafos in Cyprus.  NUP now wishes to add to its senior leadership complement as its offerings expand, its international academic network grows and its next five-year strategic plan is now beginning to be implemented.  NUP offers balanced and varied course programs through several of its Schools that include, amongst others, the Schools of: Economics and Business, Engineering, Law and Psychology. The University offers undergraduate as well as graduate degrees up to PhD level.  NUP is poised to expand fast and has plans in place to attract more international students, to add to its current local and international student body, and to expand its international network.

Significance of this position

This unique position ranks particularly high in the academic hierarchy of the university because it blends demanding leadership, administration at very senior level and rigorous academic work. As such, the position calls for a proven record of leadership, academic excellence and administrative achievement. As such, interested candidates would have probably held a position at the level of: Faculty Council Chair, Dean, Rector, Senior Vice President, Dean, Provost and the like.  It is expected that the short-list will be comprised of only CVs that come from highly accomplished candidates at very senior level, with outstanding academic and research achievements and publications of the highest international standard.  

Role:

The successful candidate will be expected to: a.) perform demanding leadership, management and administrative tasks, b.) carry a light teaching load commensurate with the position, c.) be involved in some research and maybe some student research supervision, d.) exercise man-management of the highest order, e.) network at the highest level locally but mostly internationally and f.) work closely with other senior members of the university, local authorities and universities at international level.

Requirements:

a.)    experienced serving academics at professor level that have held position(s) similar to those appearing above
b.)    holders of a PhD or other Doctorate (e.g. DBA) in any areas of academic interest to the University. Whilst the university conducts all its teaching and research in English, knowledge of Greek would be a strong advantage.  All applications will naturally be treated in strict confidence. 

Residence:

The successful candidate will be required (non-negotiable) to take up residence in Pafos, Cyprus.  The town of Pafos is the Cultural Capital of Europe for 2017 and a very attractive destination for foreign visitors.    
 
Reward package:

The successful candidate can expect to receive an above-market reward package of salary and benefits considering that the university wishes to appoint to this position an academic of truly exceptional quality. Clearly the NUP does not expect the reward package to be a barrier to the appointment of the right candidate. The package includes housing support and other perquisites of office.
