The Opportunity 

Monash University is seeking to appoint an outstanding candidate as Professor and Head, Department of Social Work, with the strategic vision and leadership capacity to steer the future direction of the discipline in the School of Primary and Allied Health Care. Established in 1974, the Department of Social Work is vibrant, rapidly expanding and highly respected for its educational program, in particular the Masters of Social Work (Qualifying). Thousands of students have graduated from Monash and now work as professional social workers around the globe. Monash Social Work also has an international reputation for its research into areas such as child welfare, the welfare state, Indigenous social policy, family violence and corrections.

Monash is seeking an outstanding scholar and researcher to strategically lead the department, capitalising and building on existing educational and research strengths and making a major contribution to building education and research. To be successful in this role, you will have a doctoral level qualification in a discipline relevant to Social Work, be eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers and possess a proven track record of leadership and internationally recognised research excellence.
