The School of Veterinary Science has a rich history having been founded in 1936 and has a reputation for graduating self-reliant, independent and highly capable veterinarians with plenty of initiative and drive. The School has high quality facilities at the UQ Gatton Campus, providing the teaching, research and clinical infrastructure and resources to develop its strong reputation as a leading provider of veterinary training, research and clinical care. The school also maintains a small animal hospital and large animal clinic at Dayboro, north-west of Brisbane.
This position involves primarily teaching and diagnostic service in clinical pathology while supporting collaborative research projects through provision of specialist clinical pathology expertise. The position will contribute teaching into veterinary science, veterinary technology and science undergraduate programs as well as postgraduate programs and clinical specialty programs. The successful applicant will work within the teaching team in Pathology and Infectious Diseases, and have a commitment to and enthusiasm for student education, supervision of graduate students, interns and residents, and be able to contribute to the School’s research mission.
Applicants must have a Veterinary Science degree registrable in Queensland. For appointment at Level B, recognition of advanced clinical skills in clinical pathology is desirable. For appointment at level C, eligibility for specialist registration in Queensland or completion of a residency in the area of clinical pathology is required. The successful applicant will have expertise in the area of clinical pathology with experience in the provision of a high quality clinical pathology diagnostic service.
This is a part-time fixed term appointment of 0.80FTE until September 2018 to cover a parental leave vacancy. The appointment will be at Academic Level B or C depending on qualification and experience. The base remuneration package will be in the range:
Level B - $92,142.74 - $109,419.20 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be $100,896.30 - $119,814.02 p.a.).
Level C - $112,874.46 - $130,150.91 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $123,597.53 – 142,515.25 p.a.).
